A man in his 20s is dead and police are investigating after the second fatal shooting in Sydney’s south-west this week.

Emergency services were called to Knox Street in Belmore in the early hours of Saturday morning to find a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

“He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene. The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, is yet to be formally identified,” NSW Police said in a statement on Saturday.

Forensic officers are now at the scene and detectives have begun an investigation.

It’s the second fatal shooting in Sydney’s south-west this week, and the third within the past three weeks.

On Tuesday night, Comancheros sergeant-at-arms Tarek Zahed and his brother Omar were sprayed with bullets as they left BodyFit gym in Auburn.

Omar died at the scene after going into cardiac arrest, while Tarek survived wearing 10 bullets to the head, torso and legs.

He remains in a stable condition in hospital after making it through surgery on Wednesday.

Security has been increased around Zahed’s hospital room, with police on Friday confirming a Comancheros associate was charged with stalking and intimidation after being refused entry twice, and allegedly threatening a security officer.
