Welcome to Friday: the last obstacle between you and a relaxing weekend! The day also brings with it a new Wordle word puzzle for you to solve, and we’re here to help with some tips and hints.

Anyone who just wants to find out the answer can jump to the end of this article for September 2’s Wordle solution revealed. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to figure out today’s Wordle yourself, keep reading for a few tips, clues, and strategies to assist you.

    Where did Wordle come from?

Engineer Josh Wardle originally created Wordle as a gift for his partner, however it quickly grew into an international phenomenon. Thousands of people around the world now play the word puzzle game daily, some even creating alternate versions of Wordle. These include battle royale Squabble, music identification game Heardle, and variations like Dordle and Quordle that make you guess multiple words at once.

Wordle even became so popular that the New York Times bought it earlier this year, and TikTok creators have live streamed themselves attempting to solve it.

Not the day you’re after? Here’s the Wordle answer for September 1.

What’s the best Wordle starting word?

The best Wordle starting word is the one that brings you joy. But if what brings you joy is being strategic, we have a few ideas to help you select your opening move. One useful tip: Select a word with at least two different vowels in it, as well as common consonants like S, T, R, or N.

What happened to the Wordle archive?

While the entire archive of past Wordles was once readily accessible to the word-loving public, it has since been taken down. According to the website’s creator, this tragedy was brought about at the request of The New York Times.

    Is Wordle getting harder?

Wordle isn’t getting harder, but it does have a Hard Mode you can enable if you’re after a bigger challenge. Unfortunately, there is no easy mode.

Why are there two different Wordle answers some days?

Though Wordle usually only has one correct solution per day, the puzzle game will sometimes accept two different solutions as correct. This phenomenon is attributable to the New York Times, which made changes to Wordle after acquiring it.

Here’s a subtle hint for today’s Wordle answer:

The answer to today’s Wordle is sometimes associated with luck.

Does today’s Wordle answer have a double letter?

There are no doubled letters in today’s Wordle solution, which should keep it pretty straightforward.

    Today’s Wordle is a 5-letter word that starts with…

Today’s Wordle starts with the letter C, as in “Chronosaurus” by Stray Kids.

What’s the answer to Wordle today?

Now’s your final chance to guess today’s Wordle yourself before the answer is revealed!

Have you locked in your answer?

The solution to Wordle #440 is…

    CHARM.

Charm is both the ability to and act of delighting, attracting, or entrancing others. (Stray Kids also have an excellent song called “Charmer,” but that would have been too big of a clue!) Small trinkets worn on necklaces or bracelets are called charms as well, and are sometimes credited with bringing good luck.

Don’t be disheartened if you didn’t manage to figure it out this time! After all, there’s always tomorrow, and we’ll be back with more helpful clues and hints to help you get there.
